History:
The Foundation Meeting of the Coffs Harbour Catholic club was held on April 23rd, 1968.

The history of the Catholic Club explains:
“For technical reasons associated with the application for registration as a Licensed Club, this original Catholic Club was disbanded at a Special General Meeting of its members held on June 9, 1969. On the same evening a new club bearing the same name was formed. There were 144 foundation members of the Club and currently 56 of these members are still members of the Club."

The Club was finally granted the Certificate of Registration during the morning of December 22, 1969. The doors were open for the first time at 4pm that afternoon. The site for the Club, a little over 5 acres was purchased on February 4, 1969 from the Meredith family for the sum of $17,000.00 and over the ensuing years further properties have been purchased by the Club.

“The first Clubhouse was developed on the site purchased from Meredith. This site included a substantial timber framed residence which was altered an incorporated into the Club buildings. A recreation hall, kitchen and toilets were also added to constitute the original Clubhouse.”

Extensions were then carried out in 1974, however in the early hours of January 12, 1976 the original Clubhouse building was burnt to the ground. In true Catholic Club spirit the Club reopened on January 23, 1976. Disaster hit the Club again on the evening of November 23, 1996 when, following unprecedented torrential rain, the Club was inundated with storm water to depths of 15cm. With true spirit the Club was back in operation after lunch on November 25, 1996.

Tuesday 31st March 2009, saw the Coffs Coast area inundated with water and Club Coffs on West High once again became an island. However a brick wall had been built following the 1996 disaster to divert the water away from the greens and the Club, this forethought saved the Club from another catastrophe.
